[Fic] [Round 44] Unresolved, PG
Author: Reki
Characters: Gunter, Conrart
Word Cont: 252
Rating: PG-ish
Any Warnings: Spoilers for the Dai Shimaron arc (through the beginning of Season 2)
Prompt being used: Gunter, Conrad: trust

It took nearly two days after the Maou's departure for Earth before Gunter was able to find Conrart alone in the library.

The younger man did not look up from his book as Gunter approached. He stopped beside Conrart's chair. “You owe your brother an apology.”

Conrart rolled his eyes but didn't look up from his book. “What does Wolfram say I've done now?”

Gunter glared down at him. “Your elder brother. The one who offered his life as an apology for your treason.”

“Hnnh.” Conrart turned the page, offering no further response.

Gunter pulled the book from his hands. “Is that all you have to say?”

Conrart glared at him, but didn't reach for the book. “What Gwendal choses to do is hardly my responsibility. And, unlike some people, I think my brother would tell me directly if he didn't like something I'd done.” He stood up, the motion bringing him well into the other man's personal space. “So what is it you really want to say to me?”

Gunter resisted the impulse to step back, but only barely. “His majesty may have been quick to forgive you, and your brother may be willing to overlook what you did, but I'm not convinced. You turned your sword against his majesty when you were sworn to protect him. Don't think I'll trust you not to do it again.” He turned away and stalked out of the library, Conrart's book still clutched in his hand.

Oooh bold words! So confrontational! A very interesting take on the emotional dynamics in the castle while the Maou is away. Nicely done! ^^

Thank you. I'm glad my take on this came across well.

Yes! I wondered about this aspect of the plot myself. Thank you for this glimpse of Gunter's personality that's not often shown. It is a powerful piece of writing despite it brevity. Well done.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed this. I have a hard time 'getting' Gunter's voice so I'm glad this portrayal works for you.

Ooh, Gunter breaks out the big guns. I find it interesting that everyone shows their more ruthless sides only when Yuuri's not present.

But I must admit I was too distracted by the fact that Gunter STOLE Conrart's book! Man, that is just not done. DX

Yes, Gunter and Conrart are especially careful around Yuuri I think.

It was either have him steal the book or throw it, and Gunter doesn't throw books. Now how will Conrart get his book back, I wonder? *eg*

I think everyone's more careful around Yuuri, just because they don't want to see that heartbroken look in his eyes when/if they disappoint him. Seriously, that's like his Secret Weapon, I tell you. :P

Now how will Conrart get his book back, I wonder? *eg*

Now that's something that just begs to be written... ;)

Agreed, disappointed Yuuri is not something any of them want to see.

*sets bait for the elusive Gunter muse*

I always find intriguing the relationship between Gunter and Conrad, so full of shades, ups and downs, they make you doubt in some instances, how they stand with each other.

Very true. Gunter and Conrart are the characters that I have the hardest time figuring out what they're actually thinking/feeling about a given situation, so it's even more confusing watching them together.
